“Labour would end Gove’s policy of allowing underperformance to go unchecked in our schools” - Tristram Hunt

labourpress:

Tristram Hunt MP, Labour’s Shadow Education Secretary, responding to Michael Gove’s failure to act on concerns about radical hardliners seeking to take control of schools in Birmingham, said:
“Michael Gove refused to listen to the warnings about radical hardliners taking control of schools. His department has sat on these warnings for four years.

"This is gross negligence on the part of ministers. Michael Gove’s complacency has given rise to a constant stream of failings in our school system. Failings in the running of schools are not being spotted until it’s too late. This is not an isolated case.
"Labour would end Gove’s policy of allowing underperformance to go unchecked, introducing local Directors of School Standards to spot problems before they set in. Michael Gove’s acceptance of more-of-the-same leaves more schools at risk.”

is there going to be an inquiry into tim boyes trying to recruit his students to his church? or does that not count?

you ask a load of non-religious black and white kids at moseley and queensbridge and they were aggressively pursued to join that church and it wasn’t appropriate, it isn’t cool to go after 11 year olds that way

i’m so done if tristram hunt is listening to that bad, it’s bad enough he was on the fucking news
